firewire: Also known as High Performance Serial Bus, firewire was created by Apple to transmit high volumes of files and data, as well as to establish a connection between computers, scanners, fax machines, etc.

FM: Standing for "Frequency Modulation," FM is a type of radio wave transmission.

freeware: Free software that users can download from the Internet. Although freeware is free, companies still have copyrights on it.

HDTV: High Definition Television with better, clearer picture quality and resolution than traditional TV.

home theater: A private location where families enjoy movies and/or TV. Home theaters tend to include DVD players, TVs and sound systems.

hub: A device that can split a single connection source so that multiple people and/or other devices can operate from it. A number of devices can use a single Internet or cable connection through a single hub.

iPod: A portable device created by Apple that can download, store and replay music, videos and movies.

iTunes: An online Apple network where Internet users can go to download music, videos and movies that are compatible with their iPods for a specific cost.

JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPEG is a type of lossy compression file format used to store and transmit picture files. JPEGs are considered "lossy" because they delete certain information associated with a file in order to save room. Although some data is lost, JPEGs can restore the file close to it’s original quality.
