Bye-Bye HD DVD, Hello Blu-Ray

Not one year after spending almost $500 on a Toshiba HD DVD player, I learn that Toshiba has surrendered in the HD DVD/Blu-Ray war. As a result, Blu-Ray is the winner. Now what? Should I run out and buy a Blu-Ray player?

My answer? No. Though the movie studios will no longer be producing HD DVDs, my Toshiba does an excellent job of converting my regular DVDs into near-HD quality. Often, I can't tell the difference between an HD DVD and one that has been converted.

Also, my cable provider offers a number of HD movies on demand. Why even bother with a player when I can simply click a button and watch a high-definition movie directly off of my high-definition television.

Blu-Ray might have won this battle, but it still hasn't won me over.

Your thoughts?
